Our
Heritage
We are proud of
our heritage at Chamaty Diamonds. Owner/ Master Diamond Cutter Isaac
Chamaty was born in Istanbul, Turkey. He is the middle of five children.
At the age of six months, his family moved to Israel. He was raised
in Israel and went to school through the 8th grade. At that time,
in order to go to high school you had to pay, so he finished high
school in two years while starting to learn how to cut diamonds.
Isaac wanted to learn how to become a master diamond cutter so when
he was finished with his work, he would go to the next guy to see
if he could help him and that is the way that he learned how to
cut all of the facets of a diamond. Isaac served in the military
and was active during the 1967 war. After the war, when he was finished
with his military duty, he toured Europe. When he returned to Israel,
he opened up his own diamond cutting business. Isaac had an opportunity
to come to the United States and worked in New York and Georgia
cutting and selling diamonds. When the 1973 war broke out in Israel,
he returned to fight in that war also. Isaac came back to the United
States on December 25th, 1976 and settled in Seattle, Washington.
He met and married Starlyn who had four children. He went to work
for his in-laws who opened a jewelry store in Federal Way. At that
time, he was the only master diamond cutter west of Chicago and
north of San Francisco. When they closed their jewelry store, he
opened up his own business, West Coast Diamond and Gem, with Bob
Santucci. Their son Sam was born in 1979.
In August of 2003, Isaac and Bob decided to go their separate ways
because Sam had graduated from college and wanted to go into business
with his dad. Chamaty diamonds opened in September, 2003.
